Can you buy viagra OTC in Thailand?

I have read in other forums that you can buy Viagra over the counter in Thailand? Is this true or just an exaggeration? Going to be in Thailand for 1 month.********************** If this is true then what is the average price, is it the same as US prices, which is very expensive?

You can buy nearly every medication over the counter in Thailand. Name brand medications cost more than in the States I've found. BUT, the big caveat to that is you can buy generics for a fraction of the price. That said, Pfizer's Viagra has many generic variants that are just as good as well as Cialis generics. I have heard of pharmacies in Thailand that sell ripoff sugar pills as well. For the record, I never used any of the aforementioned drugs, I work in the drug industry...

So find a good pharmacy. I do know of one on Sukhumvit near Asoke that I can recommend. I forgot the name but you walk past a smaller pharmacy called KS Pharmacy (I think), and it's on the same side of the road. I had to buy some antibiotics for my Thai friends here in the states and I always query them on their drug inventory.

They will always try to sell you the real drug first, ask for the generic.

I will surely ask for the generics if it saves me money, I am looking for good sites to compare prices for Viagra vs generics but cannot find any, I wonder if there is a big price difference?

My job, I work for a really big drug company that makes a lot of money. I have to help them continue making that money in a variety of ways. This is not one of them.

You will find a ton of generic drug sites online if you search on Google. A lot of them are phony so you will want to search for some review sites. I have friends that buy from alldaychemist and unitedpharmacies. There are others, these ones I know to be reliable but I am not endorsing them and have no affiliation with them. They mail drugs from overseas... The generic small molecules should be just as good though if one had a choice and money was no object of course you would choose the original. Follow-on biologics are a completely different story but you don't have to worry about that.

I forgot to mention that most of these generics will come from India and that is fine. If I had to trust a manufacturer, I would pick Cipla.

Yes you can buy it OTC and it will be about the same price as US if you buy the branded package. Ask for the generic version. Such do exist and you can get them if you if you insist. The generic is just as effective. Even if you buy the brand 'Viagra' there is a possibility that you will end up with a Chinese knockoff brought in through Burma. And that's effective too but about $1 per pill is the right price.

Some street vendors in Sukhumvit have a box of Viagra and Cialis on their stalls and offer it to passers by. I don't know how much they ask for it. I suspect it is fake from Cambodia. One pharmacy in Sukhumvit Rd has a small sign outside which says "ไม่มี Viagra" (don't have Viagra) However a farang who doesn't read Thai might assume they are selling it, and they probably are, the sign intended to put police off the scent as I believe it is illegal to sell these drugs OTC (not sure)

The larger of the two pharmacies near the corner of Sukhumvit Soi 4 next to the service station sells 4 Viagra for 1800 baht or 2 for 960 baht.
