    Is there a Thai word for the intermediate state between lives?

    The Pali word is 'Antarabhava' if that is any help.

    Theravadins deny that there is an intermediate state, saying birth occurs instantly after death. However I remember reading a artcile years ago by Peter Masefield arguing that Theravadins were the odd ones out, and it perhaps written out of the scriptures.
