As usual you will need to go through a period of probation as a,"Pha Khao" or white robe.In this period, you will be assess by the Abbot to see whether you are conducive for further ordination.
Usually, you will be ordain as a samanen first or a novice for a certain period as well.
In your probation period, you will learn all the role and requirement of being a novice and monk.
For a monk after,"Buat Nak".You will have to spend the first 5 years as a Nawak or junior monk under the guidance of your preceptor to learn the Dhamma Vinaya well.
Especially the Patimokkha or the 227 monk's rule is of paramount importance you will have to learn it well and must able to recite all 227 monk's rule in Pali language.
Recommended to ordain in Wat Pah Nanachat Ampher Warin Changwat Ubon Ratcha Thani.English speaking environment with mostly western monks.

Where a Pha Khao become novice, where a farang become monk.
Daily almsround is compulsory for novice and monk.
