My name is Anthony fr singapore and anyone over here resides in Chiangmai as I'm planning a trip to there around Feb 2004.

Anyway to acquire a map as I've tried the local embassy here but the service is pathetic.

It is easier enough to buy good maps once you are here. But, if you really want to buy before you come, then try this good map published by Groovy Maps (click on picture):

(BTW, I moved your post here as English Chatting is only for off-topic subjects)

    so happy!

Hi - I'm new to the board and live most of the time in England but I do spend around two months a year in Chiangmai - my favourite area in the world. I write for several magazines including Good Morning Chiangmai news mag. I can probably answer most questions about the city and the countryside around. I have many friend in the mountains and often spend the weekends in Mae Hong Son or Pang Mapha (Soppong) The road to Mae Hon Son from Chiangmai is one of the most beautiful journeys in Thailand. I can speak a lot of Thai but I am learning to read and write now using this site (Manee - I'm up to lesson 11!&#33 I haven't worked out if i can post photos on this site yet but, If I can I will soon
    cheers

Hi Paul - yes Chiangmai is usually cooler than Bangkok - especially in the mountains outside the city. Last April around Songkran there was a heat wave and both Chiengmai and Mae Hong Son were hotter than the capital - very unusual!!
