Festivals and Events in Samut Prakan 2009
On this thread I will post most of the festivals and events held during the year. Even if you missed it this year, you should get a good idea for next year. However, many events are set by the phases of the moon and so change from year to year.

1st January - Giving food to monks for New Year blessings. This takes place in front of the City Pillar. How do Thai People Celebrate New Year? >>>

28th March - Seafood and Trade Fair - This took place at the city hall parade ground. Billed as the first so there might be another next year. Paknam Seafood and Trade Fair >>>

13th April - A week of events for Songkran. Songkran Festival and Songkran in Phra Pradaeng

April - During the school holidays, many students ordain as novice monks. Novice Monks at Wat Chaimongkhol >>>

7th May 2009 - The parade of the sand pagoda pinnacles takes place on the day before Visakha Bucha Day at Wat Bang Ya Phraek. Parade of the Sand Pagoda Pinnacles >>>

23rd June - A fruit festival at Ancient Siam. Not sure if they will repeat this next year. Fruit Festival at Ancient Siam >>>

1st July 2009 - Ceremony at city hall parade ground to mark the founding of Scouts. National Scout Day >>>

3rd July 2009 - Ceremonies and processions for Khao Phansa. The parade starts at city hall and goes to local temples. Candle Procession for Khao Phansa >>>

12th August 2009 - Merit making for the Queen's birthday in the morning and fireworks in the evening. Merit Making for H.M. The Queen and Candle Light Ceremony for H.M. The Queen. There were also activities for Mother's Day at Ancient Siam.

17th August 2009 - There was a cock fighting festival at the Bangkok Cockpit. Not sure if they will repeat next year. Thai Cock Fighting Festival >>>

23rd August 2009 - Chinese festival where bags of rice are given to the local poor people. Happens at most Chinese temples during August. Tay Krachaat Festival >>>
The following are reports from last year of events that will happen again this year. Obviously I will edit this as the event passes.

5th September 2009 - Start of weekend Old Bang Phli Market Fair. Bang Phli Floating Market >>>

17th-27th October 2009 - Vegetarian Festival across the country. Eating Vegetarian in Thailand and Vegetarian Festival in Thailand and Loy Krathong Jay and Vegetarian Festival Parade

3rd October 2009 - Lotus throwing festival. Rap Bua Festival >>>

9th-20th October - Temple Fair. Phra Samut Chedi and the Red Cloth and Candlelight Procession.

October - Boat Races. Long-boat Racing in Thailand >>>

26th-28th October 2009 - Amazing festival in Klong Dan. Luang Phor Pan Festival >>>

2nd November 2009 - Floating candle festival. Loy Krathong at Chang Erawan >>>

Wow i'm lucky enough to go during this period around 18th-26th October 2009 - Vegetarian Festival across the country. Also some pics of your blog show during 18th-26th Vegetarian Festival look almost the same as chinese style 
Seeing all this already make me a bit hungry haha
