    Thong Siang Vegetarian House

This morning we went to a dedication ceremony at Thong Siang Vegetarian House (โรงเจท่งเสียงปากน้ำ) in Paknam. The Chinese temple dates back more than 80 years but back then it was a wooden building. In 1975 a concrete building was built. They have recently finished a restoration and the Acting Supreme Patriarch of Thailand was invited for the ceremony. He is effectively the leader of all Thai Buddhist monks. He is also the abbot of Wat Saket. He is apparently of Thai-Chinese descent which explains why he was invited here.

These pictures were taken by Panrit and myself.

This picture, which I found in Rong Jay today, was taken in 1947 when it was still a wooden building. Apparently it is the only photo that they have.

Is it something like the Govindas where they serve vegetarian food at very low prices? e.g. for charitable causes?

Anyone with photos of the dishes?
