I would had suggested that u take a coach and stop for a nite in Malacca to visit some historical places and continue ur journey to KL the next day. After all those low cost carrier are cheap only if u booked in advance and since they r cheap their services can be expected. Lastly, one advise to all ladies , it is best not to carry handbags while walking on the street cuz of snatch thieves. Enjoy ur stay .

After Malacca then to KL. There is a budget hotel opposite Puduraya, 7Eleven and KFC. Only walking distance to China Town. A few shopping centre around Puduraya. If you are heading Hatyai then buy the ticket at Konsortium Bus counter inside Puduraya. Ticket not more than 50 ringgit. Normally there are night buses to Hatyai between 9pm to 11.30pm. The last bus from S'pore transit at Puduraya around 11.30 to 12.00 midnight. Don't take Air Asia flight because the airport is nearly 90km from the city.

That's until you open your mouth and speak, by hearing your accent they know your not one of them.
