    Re: CHUCHOK s Birthday

From 500 stories of former incarnations of the Buddha (known as Jataka, ชาดก), Chu Chok (known as Jujaka, ชูชก) appeared in the last birth of The Great One, before the great one was born to be Lord Siddhartha (เจ้าชายสิทธัตถะ) and then became Lord Buddha (พระพุทธเจ้า). This story is known as The Vessantara Jataka (พระเวสสันดรชาดก) and is praised to the Great Birth Sermon (known as Maha Jati, มหาชาติ). Chu Chok was a greedy old Brahmin, who had a very young wife. At the end of story, Chu Chok was dead because he ate too much until his stomach was exploded.

I never heard about birthday of Chu Chok before. He was a symbol of human's lust, avarice, and desire. Thai Buddhists don't pray for him.
