ฉันกำลังทำการบ้าน และอ่านหนังสือไวยากรณ์ เล่ม ป.๔
บทเรียนนี้เรือง คำกริยา และ คำขยาย (วิเศษณ์)

หนังสือบอกว่า


กริยาที่แสดงการเปรียบเทียบ หรือกริยาอาศัยส่วนเตอมเต็ม เช่น เหมือน เล็ก ใหญ่ คล้าย เท้ากับ เป็น คือ ดุจ แปลว่า ฯลฯ สำหรับกริยาที่แสดงสภาพนั้นต้องพิจารณาจาก ข้อความแวดล้อมว่าเป็นคำกริยา หรือคำขยาย (วิเศษณ์) เพราะคำกริยาชนิดนี้อาจเป็นคำขยายก็ได้ เช่น

ห้องนี้สะอาดมาก (สะอาด เป็นคำกริยา)
ห้องเรียนสะอาดได้รับคำชมจากครู (สะอาด เป็นคำขยาย)
เด็กคนนี้ดื้อมากๆ (ดื้อ เป็นคำกริยา)
เด็กดื้อคนนี้อยู่ข้างบ้านฉันเอง (ดื้อ เป็นคำขยาย)

แล้วในภาษาอังกฤษ คำนี้ เล็ก ใหญ่ ดุจ คือ คำคุณศัพท์ เพราะเขียนกับคำนาม แต่หนังสือของฉันบอกว่าเ็ป็น คำขยาย (วิเศษณ์) และเขียนกับคำกริยา

ฉันไม่เข้าใจว่า วิเศษณ์และคุณศัพท์ต่างกันอย่างไรบ้าง

As you already know that in English an adjective = คำคุณศัพท์ขยายคำนาม and an adverb = คำวิเศษณ์ขยายคำกริยา BUT ในภาษาไทย we call both adjective and adverb = คำวิเศษณ์ which means that - in Thai - we use คำวิเศษณ์ either to clarify noun pronoun or verb.

Therefore, small and big – in English as we know is an adjective e.g. The car is small/big (to clarify a size of the car) which in here the word car - is a noun. but ในภาษาไทย รถคันนี้เล็ก we call the word เล็ก = คำวิเศษณ์

For ห้องนี้สะอาดมาก If you think in Thai – yes the word สะอาดมาก is คำวิเศษณ์ (to clarify the room) Remember I told you above ในภาษาไทย we call both adjective and adverb = คำวิเศษณ์ which we use either to ขยายคำนาม ขยายคำสรรพนาม or ขยายคำกริยา

I would highly appreciate it if anyone who knows much better could please correct and advise ka.

That is great, FAN, thanks! It is similar to what my teacher told me. I think it is interesting, because it is so different from English. Hopefully, if I study this, it will help me with my structure. Thanks for taking the time to help!

คำวิเศษณ์ = adj.

คำคุณศัพท์ = adv.

This issue is pretty similar to English grammar. The difference is where adj. and adv. are usually put after noun to describe it.

ห้องนี้สะอาดมาก
สะอาด = คำวิเศษณ์ (adj.) and มาก = คำคุณศัพท์ (adv.)
This structure can be compared to "This room is very clean"
clean is an adj and additionally described by 'very' which is an adverb to tell quantity (there is a technical term for it).

Just a sample of a simple structure of Thai word and sentence:

กระดาษ แผ่นนี้ เล็ก (This paper is small)
Paper this + small

and

กระดาษ สีขาว แผ่นนี้ + เล็ก มาก (This white paper is very small)
Paper white this + small very

P.S. verb to be = เป็น อยู่ คือ is usually omitted in that sentence structure.

แต่ในภาษาอังกฤษ This room is clean - ห้องนี้ เป็น สะอาด ซึ่งภาษาไทยไม่ใช้คำว่า เป็น ในประโยคนี้

ฉลาด เป็นคำวิเศษณ์ทำหน้าที่เป็นกริยา
คง เป็นคำกริยานุเคราะห์ (เช่น คง จะ ต้อง ได้ ถูก เป็นต้น)

ในภาษาไทย คำวิเศษณ์ขยายได้ทั้งนาม สรรพนาม กริยา และวิเศษณ์
ในภาษาอังกฤษ แยกคำวิเศษณ์ออกเป็น 2 ประเภทคือ
1. คุณศัพท์ (Adjective) เป็นคำประกอบนามและสรรพนาม
2. กริยาวิเศษณ์ (Adverb) เป็นคำประกอบกริยา คุณศัพท์ และกริยาวิเศษณ์

รูปคุณศัพท์ (Adjective) และ กริยาวิเศษณ์ (Adverb) ในภาษาไทยใช้รูปเดียวกัน ซึ่งต่างจากภาษาอังกฤษ เช่น
เขาเป็นคนดี – He is a good man.
เขาทำงานได้ดี – He does his work well.

Dear Mel – thanks a lot for very good - very clear and correct advice ka. As you said and I have learned since I was young - adjective is คำคุณศัพท์ and adverb is คำวิเศษณ์ You clearly mentioned that in Thai คำวิเศษณ์ คือ คำที่ใช้ประกอบหรือขยายคำนาม สรรพนาม ขยายคำวิเศษณ์ก็ได้ หรือ แม้แต่ใช้ เป็น เป็นคำอกรรมกริยา หรือกริยาที่ไม่ต้องการกรรมได้ด้วย Mel - now I found that it is complicate to correctly learn หน้าที่ของ คำวิเศษณ์ ค่ะ and I believe - you already knew that it can be classified into 9 forms with 9 names. Very difficult to remember those names too - but since I found it I will put in here as a reference naka. 1. สักษณวิเศษณ์ คือ คำวิเศษณ์ที่บอกลักษณะ ชนิด ขนาด สี เสียงกลิ่น รส อาการ 2. กาลวิเศษณ์ คือ คำวิเศษณ์ที่บอกเวลา อดีต ปัจจุบัน อนาคต เช้า สาย บ่าย ค่ำ 3. สถานวิเศษณ์ คือ คำวิเศษณ์ที่บอกสถานที่หรือระยะทาง ได้แก่ คำว่า ใกล้ ไกล เหนือ ใต้ ขวา ซ้าย หน้า บน หลัง 4. ประมาณวิเศษณ์ คือ คำวิเศษณ์ที่บอกจำนวนหรือปริมาณ ได้แก่คำว่า มาก น้อย หมด หนึ่ง สอง หลาย ทั้งหมด จุ 5. นิยมวิเศษณ์ คือ คำวิเศษณ์ที่บอกความชี้เฉพาะแน่นอน ได้แก่คำว่า นี่ โน่น นั่น นี้ นั้น โน้น แน่ เอง ทั้งนี้ ทั้งนั้น อย่างนี้ 6. อนิยมวิเศษณ์ คือ คำวิเศษณ์ที่บอกความไม่ชี้เฉพาะ ไม่แน่นอน ได้แก่คำว่า อันใด อื่น ใด ไย ไหน อะไร เช่นไร 7. ปฤจฉาวิเศษณ์ คือ คำวิเศษณ์ที่บอกเนื้อความเป็นคำถามหรือความสงสัย ได้แก่คำว่า ใด อะไร ไหน 8. ประติชญาวิเศษณ์ คือ คำวิเศษณ์ที่แสดงถึงการขานรับในการเจรจาโต้ตอบกัน ได้แก่คำว่า จ๋า ค่ะ ครับ ขอรับ ขา วะ จ๊ะ 9. ประติวิเศษณ์ คือ คำวิเศษณ์ที่บอกความปฏิเสธไม่ยอมรับ ได้แก่คำว่า ไม่ ไม่ได้ หามิได้ Oyyyy tried ka Mel - thank you for reading.
