This is part of a paragraph from an article about a finance company. In talking about the economic cycles the company has gone through, they mention one in particular called the ต้มยำกุ้ง period. I'm just wondering what period this was and how it came to be named after a dish, as I haven't heard of it before. Or am I totally misreading something?Seen my posts anywhere else on the internet along with any personal details like real name or photo? Please PM me with a link. Thanks.

ต้มยำกุ้ง in this article was the economic crisis which happened in 1997. It's started from Thailand and then to other Asian countries, that's why they named this crisis as "Tom Yum Goong Crisis". It's like "Hamburger Crisis" which refers to "Subprime Crisis" which caused by America.

I should have guessed it was the 1997 crisis, but had never heard it referred to like that. Thanks.
