how do i say this word ? - "distance"

hi guys,

i am wondering..
how do i say this,

"distance" - i believe this word is use differently everytime.

q1) "the distance between this 2 point is 100 metre"

q2) "the distance between us is getting greater"
- i use haang gan here. but i feel it means more like "drifted apart" how do i say distance here ?

ระยะทางระหว่างสองจุดนี้คือ100เมตร

Many ways to say this!
One is;

ระยะทางระหว่างเรากำลังห่างกันเรื่อยๆ


Q1 Distance between two places ระยะทาง

Q2 Separated ห่าง or

Distant from ห่างจาก

จาก or จากไป To separate, go away from.

ออกห่าง to be distancing ones self, to be distant, estranged

I agree with Surawut for the first one, but Thai often uses verbs where we'd use nouns instead in English. A more colloquial but less literal translation would be like สองจุดนี้ห่างกัน 100 เมตร instead.

I like ความห่างไกล for "distance" in the second one, it's a more general word for "distance" in the sense of just being far apart from each other. e.g. ความห่างไกลระหว่างเราสองคนมันมากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ/ทุกที

ระยาทาง seems to be used mainly when you're actually specifying the distance or referring to a specific route/journey/length you're planning to travel etc...

Normally, we use ช่องว่าง to refer to the distance between two people.
