Pink shirts vow to protect monarchy from 'attacks'

Some 2,000-plus people clad in pink gathered at Lumpini Park yesterday to oppose an early dissolution of the House and vowed to protect the monarchy from alleged attacks by the red shirts and fugitive former premier Thaksin Shinawatra.
Meanwhile, at Government House a 10-member delegation of the pink shirts called on Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to carry on the government's job instead of bowing to the red shirts' demand for House dissolution.
The crowd, made up mostly of the educated Bangkok middle class, chanted royalist slogans and songs alternating with the demand that the Abhisit administration must not dissolve the House.
The crowd was led by Chulalongkorn University's Political Science Faculty dean, Charas Suwanmala, in swearing an oath of allegiance to the monarchy in front of the King Vajiravudh statue at the Silom corner of Lumpini Park at 2.40pm.

Re: Who are the Pink Shirts?
Vowing to protect the monarchy and chanting royalist slogans sounds very "yellow shirt" too. On the other hand, the other article says some of the pink shirts just want the turmoil to end and are worried about the damage to tourism it's causing, the yellow shirts never seemed particularly concerned about that!

Re: Who are the Pink Shirts?
They are yellow shirts in disguise. Can a leopard change is spots simply by changing his shirt?
Life is learning. If you stop learning, you might as well be dead.
