Personally I like to plan my departure at least a week in advance, but my return trip is quite often open and i can leave on the spur of the moment.

My wife and her friends, I blame it on them being Thai, can't plan worth beans either. I recall one time a whole group of 15 of them decided to go to Six Flags Magic Mountain one weekend. The night before I heard about their trip and decided to see if I could get a discount on the tickets and found out that the day they wanted to go was a holiday for the park and it was closed. I see so many situations that happen in their lives similar to this and it's just lack of planning.

I don't think it is that Thai's don't plan
but that there are so many involved they must wait until the last min to try and include all that want to go.

It is not as easy as here in the west
