    Tuktuks in Isaan

I recently had some slides scanned which included some from my time in Thailand last year so I thought I would post a couple showing the tuktuks in our local town in north Buriram.

Most of the tuktuks here are of a different style than those normally seen on the streets of Bangkok, they look more like a motorcycle at the front end. If I recall correctly the engines were manufactured by Kubota, this is the company that makes many of the small engines used in the various farm machines used all over Isaan.

The tuktuk on the left side of the second picture is probably the best one to see the resemblence to a motorcyle.

Is the tuktuk over here a bit harsher than those in bangkok?

Me too. I have even sorted out where to buy one in the UK when then lotto finally decides to pay more than a pittance!

Though I would prefer one with a m/cycle front end to go with the Harley trike!

I was thinking more of a runabout when I'm in Isaan rather than here in Wales.

The "Sky-labs" are sold all over Udon Thani and Sawang Daen Din. A display of them is generally in or around the mall in Udon. Prices vary with the amenities onboard. I believe the low-end price was 56,000-baht or in that range.

Anyone for a re-make of "Easy Rider" using Skylabs as a tribute to the late Dennis Hopper?
