    CDMA phone usage in Thailand??

I have brought to Thailand with me, my Blackberry Pearl 8100 from Toronto Canada and was wondering if it is possible to use it here in Thailand? It does not seem to have any visible locations for a SIM card to be inserted as it is a CDMA phone.

Can anyone shed some light on the situation?

    Cheers, Gaew.

Have you looked under the battery? The SIM card holder is usually under there on the Blackberry Pearl 8100.

If it is CDMA only, it won't work.

I've looked into it a bit since my post and apparently Hutch mobile supports cdma coverage in thailand? I will have to head to one of their locations to find out more details regarding this.

I'll get back to everyone once i have done so..

Unlike Verizon in North America, Hutch is quite obscure. You'll possibly get decent coverage in Bangkok. But elsewhere...?

Page #5 of this document might lead you to the sim's location.

If you are simply wanting a phone, in case of emergencies, you can buy a new, GSM for around 800 baht.

If you want all that email and stuff,... YOU ARE ON HOLIDAY!

Be shure the phone isn't simcard-locked. Otherwise you have to unlock it first before you can put another (working) simcard in it. Check the original telephone operator of your phone to see if it can be unlocked if it's locked.
