I mostly learned to read and write Thai with the Manee and Friends books.

Both of these have romanization. I think what the OP wants is a workbook that teaches the alphabet and beginning reading. I have seen such books in Thailand, but I don't remember a name and I don't have a link.

ill be honest with you, i dont believe any Westerner will be able to read thai without first having the aid of having thai script along with english romanization and if you've not looked at any of the above books they have thai script with roman english translation below so a helpful cheat if you need to look and you will, learning to read thai is great but there is no way your brain can remember 44 new strange letters let alone the vowels with out a reference to something you already know that can link your memory to.This is why many farang never learn to read thai, it can be just a little to much, alphabet cards are my best learning tool to date and around 200bht!!!!! bargain,,,also to correct things both the above books teach to read and learn the alphabet in both thai and english script
