    Udon Thani?

Can share the experiences in this province? Any interesting places? Is it worth visiting?

    Thanks!

    Hi Alantra,
There are historical sites that you can visit. Also if you are interested in dinosaurs, they have found fossils there. If I knew what your interests were it would help. It is an interesting place. Well, for me it is.

Yeah Udon is nice, CHECK OUT the Tesco there for all your usual supplies, i was pretty amazed as it was just like being in England but with great weather he he. Erm...well there's some nice restuarants and well... it depends on what kind of things you like to do. More info would help. If you're in Udon why not try visiting Nong Khai too!!!

You know, salsa, the dance. I know Bangkok has a good scene and Udorn a fair sized city so I thought it might as well.

I like the northeast of Thailand the most as it's an area that is less affected by tourism and commercialism. If you want to see the real Thailand visit this province. Udon is a nice place to visit and spend time in, it's cheap, the people are friendly and the food is great. There are plenty of places to visit in and around Udon Thani so if your visiting make sure you have plenty of time. My favourite place is Phu Phra bat national park which is about an hours drive from Udon. It's a scenic park with lots of historical caves and cave paintings.
Udon city has 2 large night markets and lot's of nightlife, there are some interesting temples and 3 large lakes with quiet parkland.
I know of two Udon Thani websites that have more information if you're interested, these are

Appreciate the write up and the links, but can't say I agree with you on the food. I own property near Yasothon and while the people are nice enough, and things are cheap, I hated the food. Total no-go. Oh well, can't have everything.

Udon Thani from what i hear is amazing, my boyfriend is from there and has lots of family there. He says is real Thailand to him as it hasn't been affected by tourism like many places have.

When do you plan to visit there? I can ask him of some places he recommends you visit if you like?
