Best time to drive out of Bangkok Downtown
Hello,
I will be staying in Baiyoke hotel and leaving for Kanchanaburi on 20 October morning. What will be the time to leave Baiyoke (Pantuman) without getting caught in traffic jam.
I have still having problem getting confirmation to rent a Toyota Camry from BKK and return in CNX. Any help?
Thank you in advance.

I have done that trip 4 times now, I leave from Sukhumvit Soi 11, no matter what time you leave you will hit traffic, i find it's not too bad if I leave the hotel by 10:30am.

Depends how far you are from the expressway. In theory, in the morning most traffic is coming into the city and on roads in the city. I think 9.30 am is a good time to escape as the roads going in are also better by that time.

You might find the main trouble while driving in Bangkok is not knowing where you are going. what l find is if you are not in the correct lane etc, you can miss your turn, then it can be difficult to find the correct way out.
Might l suggest you ask for a GPS in the car, thats what l will be doing when l next drive in Bangkok, any where in Thailand for that matter.
I find driving in country Thailand very easy, the roads lv'e been on are better than those in Australia. We also set a moderate speed of 80 k's, gives you time to look about, as long as your not holding other up that is, keep a close eye on your rear vision mirror and you will be just fine.
