My Winter 2010-11 Trip to Thailand
Time is getting close for my departure to Thailand early next Thursday morning. I will be flying on Emirates via Dubai on the 7:50am from London Heathrow Airport so have to travel down overnight on National Express leaving home soon after 11:00pm. Travelling to Heathrow on a coach saves me about 250GBP as opposed to flying from my local airport in Manchester. I could even save money if I took a train and ferry across the Irish Sea and flew from Dublin...
So with 'plane ticket, coach ticket and insurance to hand all that was left was to get my passport stamped up with a Tourist Visa as I will be in Thailand for 59 days. The Consulate in Hull is very quick with this service and I mailed my passport off on Saturday morning and it arrived back today with a double-entry Tourist Visa in it, double-entry as I am not ruling out the possibility of crossing to Cambodia on this trip. For anyone not sure, as I wasn't, multiple (two or three entry) Tourist Visa's are also free at the moment. I, for some reason, thought it was only the single entry that is free... All the Consulate charge is 8GBP for return of your passport via Special Delivery (previoulsly if you provided the stamped envelope for Special Delivery there was no charge.)
Watch this space as my trip progresses...

Re: My Winter 2010-11 Trip to Isaan
When I arrive in Thailand on Friday (the 19th November) it will be exactly 6 years since I joined the Forums.
I have been looking forward to my first Loy Krathong in Thailand in Buriram but have been 'instructed' to book a hotel in Bangkok for the first week...

Re: My Winter 2010-11 Trip to Isaan
Hello David
Be prepared it is quite hot here but the locals think it is cold, We have just been to the Royal Flora in Chiang Mai and everyone everywhere are gearing up for Loy Krathong, up here they call it Yi Peng Lantern Festival and in the Bangkok post it is saying that red shirts are going to exploit the event in Chiang Mai.
I hope they now what they are doing to Thailand.
