Yes, please, thanks so much, but maybe you will like to PM PJ to ask if he/she will prefer his/her name to be blocked out on the scanned copy to be put up here as I understand that ST articles require real names for publication.
Thank you Peiyan. Plus highlighting the part on whether to block out PJ Name in ST. You are so thoughtful!

No need to hide my name. I think my username here and in the newspaper should be same.

Peiyan if you are physically in SG, just go down and buy a copy of Saturday State Times cost you $1. If not, buy as many copies of State Times as you want! 555+ Same as you, my house only subscribed to ZB. I'm a guy by the way.

PJ, that means to say that the ST will confirm and publish your letter (with your name) in the Life! Mailbag page on Saturday?

Re: Last Surviving Kampong of Singapore

    Bad news!
    Dear Mr Quek

    Thank you for your feedback.

The kampong at Lorong Buangkok and its surrounding land is planned to be comprehensively developed to provide future housing, schools, and other neighbourhood facilities supported by a road network. However, while the Master Plan shows the future intention of the site, the implementation timeframe has not been firmed up.

You have also queried about the plans for Pulau Ubin. The intention for Pulau Ubin is for it to continue to remain an outdoor playground for Singaporeans and it will be kept in its rustic state for as long as possible.

While preserving our past heritage deepens our sense of identity, there is a need to carefully balance how much and what to conserve in land-scarce Singapore. In this aspect, URA has and will continue to work closely with other agencies e.g. National Heritage Board to conserve our historic districts, monuments and identity areas and promote retention of identity and heritage in Singapore.

Indeed its a sad news. However this letter is like an active script running beforehand.

I have better do a second visit to KLB the next time I'm home, a more comprehensive trip this time, while it's still around!
