Start from Road no. 1 Vipawadee-Rangsit
Bare left on Road No. 32 Ayuttaya- Bangpa_in
Keep going stright until you could see Road no.12
Drive til you could see Road No.117 through NokornSawan- Pitsanulok
    Total 427 Kms

It was an unplan trip to Sukhothai
Firstival we planed to go then cancelled because other friends were unavaliable.
I noticed that I should pack up my luggage on 4 p.m. and head out from Bangkok to Sukhothai around 10 p.m . with another 5 family members and friends.

Arrived to Sukhothai at 2.30 a.m.We had not booked a hotel ,all rooms reserved and full booking. It was nearly 4.30 a.m.We were exhasted , sleepy , kept driving from one to another one.
Then we found out a very old hotel in the city 800/THB/night/room ( I guess if it was not a long holiday the price of room should not be more than 300-400THB/night)

I forgot to bring a tripod again. Then firework photos were taken but not what I expected. I was trying to hold my breath as long as I could and stay still as possible.

As the result you could see.

    Re: Loy KraThong-Sukhothai 19 Nov 2010

    Thanks for posting and sharing.
I always wanted to go but Loy krathong is either during the week or when it is at the weekend, I am sick.... like this year.

    a couple of questions:
how crowded is it out there at the monuments? is it difficult to move around, do you get pushed and shoved, or is it relatively easy to get out and go in the other direction if you want to?
I see some parade photos taken in daylight, what time is it? go to the old city early afternoon and stay until how late in the evening? how does the schedule work?
are there khom loys in Sukhothai? someone asked me earlier this year and I had no idea. I see some being flown in your pics, was it part of the show only, or can you fly your own?
    thank you

    a couple of questions:

-how crowded is it out there at the monuments?
    Very crowded everywhere, traffic jam.

-is it difficult to move around, do you get pushed and shoved, or is it relatively easy to get out and go in the other direction if you want to?
It is not difficult to move around . I did not get pushed or shoved at all. Easy to walk around but too hard to move a car in and out from a car park .

-I see some parade photos taken in daylight, what time is it? go to the old city early afternoon and stay until how late in the evening? how does the schedule work?
Parades photos were taken at midday until 4 p.m. and went outside for food. Back in there again at 6 p.m. to 8p.m.
The website : http://www.loikrathong.net provided any schedule in different provinces.

At approx. 5.30 a.m.- 11.00 a.m. major activities were about the religion in the buddhist way such as making merit, provided food for monks, details were changed differently each day.

At approx. 1 p.m.-8.30 p.m.: Mainly the shows , parades and activities were remained exactly the same .

-are there khom loys in Sukhothai? someone asked me earlier this year and I had no idea. I see some being flown in your pics, was it part of the show only, or can you fly your own?
I believed Khom Loy are flown in Sukhothai : I could see there were some sellers outside a showground and I saw the locals fly them too but I could not find it inside an area of the show. I guess they were not allow to do so. All of Khom Loys which you could see on my photos were parts of the show.

    Regards

    thank you
