Re: Eight killed in latest van horror
How is this political? If you think my comment is directed to the current Government, then you are wrong. This is a real social problem here in Thailand. The rich and powerful always get away with things especially with such a family name. Always been and always will. Before Thaksin, during Thaksin, and even now. Pull your ostrich head out of the sand.
Unfortunetly, your condolences will not serve justice.Last edited by BUCKY; 30-12-10 at 01:27 PM.

Re: Eight killed in latest van horror
It is political only if YOU want it to be. First of all, it is a social issue. He stepped up to comment because the public pointed out the underage driver has influencial parents and she will probably get away with it. Since the PM commented justice will be served and "no one is above the law". I was merely commenting I am waiting to see what good can he do. If you think this is political, well, too bad.
Luckily I did not put the "red" dancing smiley... you probably think it is political also.
Touchy.

TOLLWAY TRAGEDY
Horror car crash claims ninth fatality
By The Nation
A Thammasat university student became the latest fatality of the Tollway horror crash on Thursday, bringing the number of dead to nine.
Janjira Simkratok, 22, a student of Public Health faculty succumbed to injuries on Thursday after being in a coma at Vipavadi Hospital following the tragedy on Monday.
The tragedy took place on Monday night when a white Honda Civic rammed the back of a minivan on Tollway above Vibhavadi Rangsit road, sending it crashing into a streetlight pole on the inbound elevated tollway.
The eight victims were flung out from a five-metre height.
Some of the bodies of the victims, who were flung out of the van by the impact of the crash, were seen hanging from a pedestrian flyover, while bodies were recovered from a canal adjacent to the nearby Kasetsart University.
Police said driver of the Honda Civic turned out to be a 16-year-old girl who had no driving license.
The girl whose name is withheld would face several charges, police said.
Police on Thursday said that the girl will be summoned today to acknowledge the charges. Immigration police would cooperate to prevent her from fleeing to a foreign country.

Re: Eight killed in latest van horror
Actually, I think the main reason it is such an issue is partly because of the horrific nature of the accident, but also because many of the victims are probably of similar social status to the girl driver. The FaceBook witchhunt is an example of something that I bet wouldn't have happened if it had been a vanload of labourers.

Re: Eight killed in latest van horror
Lots of people are blindly following each other in this matter without knowing the full truth. The poor girl has had so many death threats. We don't know yet the reason for the crash. As far as influential families go, her father was a soldier. Not everyone with her surname are rich or influential.
