im trying to find to find a thai language course at a university maybe chiang mai or anyone in bangkok .
has anyone been to a university in thailand? if so how was it and what are the costs?

Re: Thai university language courses?
Hi Jay,
I think whether you go for a university course or language school course might depend on what you plan to do with the newly gained language skills.
I think if your goal is to converse with your Thai friends and neighbors, or just to shop and get around town more easily, you will do just as well at a language school. Then, after class, you should head out to the streets and test what you learned in class that day. In my own experience, I learned more being thrown together with a group of one friend and her friends who spoke no English. It was 'sink or swim' and I had a wonderful time.
If your goals are more academic, then you might want to consider a university. Perhaps there are some others here who can offer their experiences.

Re: Thai university language courses?
Thank you for the reply
I have been learning thai for 2 years now mostly on my own. ive had a few private tutors which has been a great help in reading and writing. I am looking for a one year course. i will be staying in thailand for 1 year from march onwards.. i know all the basic thai very well. my reading and writing is just abit above beginner but not quite intermediate.
i think i might do one of the language schools. ive got a few in mind. i will visit them as soon as i get there and take a free lesson from their classes
regards
