Re: Namtokphlio National Park
Fileep, I must admit I find it very useful that you had listed the prices of the accommodations... And I completely agree that feeding fish in Thailand is very addictive! It remains one of my favourite activities to do whenever I'm in Thailand. My favourite spot so far is at the BKK's Tha Chang Pier (feeding bread to wild catfish in Chao Praya River) in front of Wat Rakang
Sleep, little one, close your eyes, mother will sing you a lullaby... Sleep in a jewel cradle, sleep, mother will rock you.
If you don't sleep the midges will go for your eyes and pollen will fall on the cradle....Sleep, close your eyes...

Re: Namtokphlio National Park
I started the walk at around 8am, it was very overcast and threatening to rain all morning, the good thing about that, was it kept the temperature down and it was nice and cool, and as I said before, some parts of this path are very demanding and you really worked up a bit of a sweat……

look at this bit….this really gave the old legs a workout

I love this picture, the way the tree growth is slowly covering the boulder.

Re: Namtokphlio National Park
nice place :-) looks like one of those rare nature trails where you actually need proper shoes, not just flipflops.
is it accessible by public transport from Chanthaburi? like a songthaew on the main road or something. difficult to see from the map where the actual access point is.

Re: Namtokphlio National Park
Good question about transport Betti, I travel around in my own car with the aid of a GPS so very rarely use local transport.
I took this travel information straight from the Official National Parks web site http://web2.dnp.go.th/parkreserve/as...1/location.asp
By Car
From Bangkok take the Bangna - Trat highway to Chanthaburi, then go for a further 14km. (km. 347 from Bangkok) and then turn left for a further 2.5km until you reach the park.
By Bus
By public transport take a bus from Bangkok's eastern bus terminal (Ekamai) to Chanthaburi. Then from the north side of the market catch a Songtaew to the park entrance (a half - hour ride).“ When you're chewing on life's gristle; Don't grumble, give a whistle; And this'll help things turn out for the best. ”- Eric Idle

Re: Namtokphlio National Park
You hear a lot of little creatures wriggling about as you walk along the track and every now and then out of the corner of your eye you see a few little tails disappearing into the undergrowth.
These tails could belong to smaller family members of this big guy…..hopefully smaller family members….

A few more trees…..

If you can safely descend these very steep steps, then you have completed the nature trail.
Much easier to come down them, I did pass one person going the other way……these would be a real heart starter to your mornings walk.
They were a bit slippery after the previous night’s rain……good shoes are a must!
