Taxi day hire fare reasonable?
Hi,
I am getting quotes for 4500 THB for a taxi and driver for the day for our trips in and around Bangkok? Does that sound reasonable?
Thanks!

Depending on the type of cars (are we talking about the airport limo here?) and hours but 4500 around Bangkok is definetly too much. I think you should be able to get a taxi driver for around 1,500- 2,000 THB for 8 hours easily (excluding petrol and toll) to drive you around BKK. Maybe even 1,000 if you are good at negotiating.

I agree with Bucky. That sounds like a quote from a hotel in one of their "limousines" .
THB1500 is more than enough, and you might even like to throw in lunch for the driver.

It's very high cost for taxi with driver. You travel around in Bangkok not going to up-country. We can rent a Van 10-12 Seats at the cost 1,800 Baht (I mean Toyota Commuter High roof) with good driver. This price is exclude gasoline. Even if I am a Thai who live in Bangkok but I still want to have a good driver because our life count on him. Then if you have another choice, please ask someone to find for you. Have a nice trip in BKK.

Re: Taxi day hire fare reasonable?
Hi everybody,
This is for day trips out of Bangkok and includes petrol. Specifically, this is for our day trips to Kanchanaburi and on another day..to the floating markets area.
Thanks,

Also, this isn't a limo..from what I was told, its a air conditioned car.

Re: Taxi day hire fare reasonable?
Still sounds a bit high based on my own experiences.
Last couple of times I hired a car and Thai driver, it was 3000/day, not including petrol/tolls. But that did include all-day service (we were picked up around 6:00 AM, back around 9:00 PM), including an overnighter once when we hired him for multiple days - the driver slept in the car at the boat ramp while my daugther & I stayed at the River Kwai Jungle Rafts floating hotel.
The driver was also an incredible tour guide, completely safe (personally & driving), flexible, and just a nice guy. That rate was for everywhere/anywhere we wanted to go in the country. He only spoke some english, but fortunately my american daughter is completely fluent in Thai.
