News iPhone 5 coming in September, iPad with Retina display and more
The Apple WWDC event came and passed this month without an iPhone announcement for the first time since they launched the original 2G in 2007. Speculations about the launch date of the iPhone 5 (or 4S) have been circling around ever since.
New info brought to light by Bloomberg pinpoints September as the most probable time for the announcement and launch of the next-gen iPhone. Apple have a traditional September event, which however has so far been focused on iPods and music.

Bloomberg cites two unknown people, which are familiar with the next iPhone. It's no secret that a prototype iPhone "4S" (sharing the iPad 2's dual-core A5 chip) has been given to certain developers - so it really isn't hard to believe that the next iPhone is on its way to millions of inpatient fans. The question is only "WHEN?"
Bloomberg also shares that apart from the upgraded processor, the next iPhone will have a more advanced camera. This could mean improvement in the sensor, technology and so forth but doesn't exactly give out the resolution. Hopefully it will be an 8 MP unit with 1080p video capture.
There's also a rumor that the next iPad is being tested currently. It supposedly has a higher resolution display and that's about it. We've heard that one before about an iPad with a 4 times greater resolution (2048x1536). Remember, this rumor is based on graphics found in the latest iOS 5 SDK. We've heard rumors of next-gen iPad coming as soon as this Fall before but we've never thought there's much truth in it.
We're not done yet folks. It seems that a cheaper iPhone is in the works, intended for developing countries. That sounds ridiculous for a premium hardware manufacturer like Apple, but hey - we might as well pass on the information. It isn't the first time we've heard of such nonsense.
Finally (yes, this is it) we've heard through the grapevine that Apple is thinking of "reinventing" the TV segment with its own iOS-wearing-big-screen-flaunting TV. Yes - an Apple HDTV with AirPlay, apps and all. AppleInsider claims a new product line is about to spawn. Though we find the idea of Apple's design and high-quality screens combined with the smart internals of a iOS device a great one, we somehow doubt that Apple, the computer company, will be dipping its toes on the HDTV market.

An iPhone 'Lite' with iPhone 5 in September?

REPORTS from sources familiar with the matter have said that Apple is looking to release a 'Lite' version of the iPhone 4 together with the iPhone 5 September 2011.
The iPhone 'Lite', whose name is yet to be confirmed, will feature components that are native to the iPhone 4, except smaller and cheaper.
The target markets of the so-called iPhone 'Lite' are those in developing countries, where a lower price point would prove more effective than piling on the technology.
This move is seen by at least one analyst as a change in market direction by Apple.
Charlie Wolf, with Needham & Company told Bloomberg that 'Apple's strategy is changing from targeting 25 per cent of the global mobile phone market...to 100 per cent.'
The iPhone 5 is speculated to be launched in September, 'as iPhone 4 warranties run out' says Beatweek Magazine. It will run on the iOS 5 platform that was revealed at the June 6 keynote conference.

New report backs up September iPhone 5 release date
By Taylor Hatmaker, Tecca | Today in Tech – Thu, Jul 7, 2011
Extracted from Yahoo
Today, The Wall Street Journal independently confirmed reports that the next generation iPhone will be on the way in the third quarter of this year. According to sources close to the supply line, Apple's next iPhone is expected to trim down the famously svelte iPhone 4, making it both lighter and thinner than the current model. While plenty of other technology outlets had published similar details previously, the credible new report solidifies what we can expect from Apple's next generation smartphone.
While we still don't know if the device will be named the iPhone 5 or the iPhone 4S, such significant improvements point to the former, which would make it an entirely new model, unlike the upgrade from iPhone 3G to the iPhone 3GS.
The report also suggests that the next iPhone will have a camera upgraded to 8 megapixels, a resolution boost up from the iPhone 4's 5-megapixel sensor and a confirmation of an earlier rumor from Bloomberg. Bloomberg's sources also suggested that the smartphone will sport the same powerful A5 processor as the iPad, which would yield a significant a speed boost for the device.
Yesterday serial Apple secret-leaker DigiTimes suggested that Pegatron, a Taiwanese component manufacturer, will ready 15 million of Apple's elusive next-generation phones for a September launch. According to The Wall Street Journal's new information, Apple intends to move 25 million units of its new iPhone by the year's end.
Since Apple remained mum on the next iPhone during its big June event, evidence continues to pile up indicating that the company's next hot gadget will be hitting stores this fall.

Upcoming iPad with retina display to be named iPad 2 Plus, scheduled for late 2011
Extracted from gsmarena
July 8th, 2011 byChip
It’s usually a good thing when rumors about an upcoming device start to intensify – it means that its official premiere nears. That’s why we are getting increasingly optimistic about seeing another iPad this year, rather than have to wait until 2011.
The latest piece of online gossip has it that the next iPad will appear in late 2011, and will carry the name iPad 2 Plus, rather than iPad 3. Despite the modest naming, the third iOS slate should represent quite a significant upgrade over its predecessor.
Reportedly, the Apple iPad 2 Plus will be the first tablet to pack a Retina display. Its screen is expected to come with four time the resolution of the regular iPad 2 display, which translates to 2048 x 1536 pixels. Assuming that the screen size stays the same (and we’d be shocked if it doesn’t) that adds up to a stunning pixel density of 264 ppi.
Considering that the Retina display is one of the best things that ever happened to the iPhone, you can see why we are getting so excited about the next iPad. Of course the need for such pixels densities on a tablet isn’t as high as on a smartphone, as you normally tend to hold the slates further away from your eyes, but we are sure that if this rumor turns out true the result will be great.

Cheaper iPhone 4 8GB in the making, launch within weeks?
Extracted from gsmarena
It seems a cheaper 8GB version of the iPhone 4 has entered its manufacturing stages. According to two unknown sources for Reuters, Asian suppliers are assembling the iPhone 4 with a lower memory capacity and the new 8GB flash drive is being manufactured by an undisclosed Korean company. It could be Samsung Electronics although there's no official confirmation on this. The new lower-capacity iPhone 4 will be ready for launch within weeks.
When the iPhone 4 was officially launched by Apple, an 8GB 3GS model was released for a cheaper price. It seems logical for this to happen again after Apple's new iPhone is announced.
Also according to Reuters sources Apple is aiming at a September launch for the iPhone 5 (or 4S), which will supposedly have a bigger display, a revamped antenna design and a better 8MP camera. Apple is rumored to have assigned production of their next iPhone to two manufacturers - Pegatron and Hon Hai, and the total number of planned devices should be around 45 million.
There's not long left now until September 7th, which is the go-to rumor date for the big iPhone announcement by Apple. Fingers crossed!

iPhone 5: Everything we know so far

With Apple's newest iPhone on the way, the rumors are swirling
Rumors about the iPhone 5 started flying nearly as soon as the iPhone 4 landed on the shelves last year. So far, many sources have strongly suggested that Apple's newest smartphone may be right around the corner. With a potential launch date drawing close, let's take some time to review the hype, speculation, and best guesses that hint at the future of the iPhone 5.
Releasing in October
The Wall Street Journal confirmed the new iPhone model is coming in October, although we don't know yet if the new phone will be called iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, or something else entirely. It's been well over a year since the iPhone 4 became available in June 2010, and we've had white iPhones and Verizon iPhones since then. The iPhone 3GS had been released in June 2009 and Apple tends to release its iconic smartphone on a yearly cycle. Now that's it's been over 400 days since the last one, Apple lovers are yearning for the next iteration of iPhone.
Wireless syncing, wireless charging
We know for certain that the new iPhone using iOS 5 will sync with your computer wirelessly, since Apple made a big deal of this capability at its developer's conference in June. The iPhone may also support wireless charging. The soon to be extinct HP TouchPad had this capability, so it makes sense that Apple might be exploring the technology to improve the iPhone experience, cutting away the last cords that force you to tie your phone to your computer. That seems like an experience that Apple would want to pioneer.
Better camera
The Wall Street Journal also reported the new iPhone camera sports 8 megapixels, which is a significant boost over the iPhone 4's 5 mexapixel sensor. This information seems to confirm similar, earlier rumors from Bloomberg. If we're really lucky, we might finally see an improved camera flash. Remember that the iPhone 4 was released over a year ago; newer smartphones have cameras that simply blow away the iPhone 4's offering, at least on paper. It's time for Apple to get back on top of the heap with an update.
4" screen or smaller
The size of the iPhone 5's touchscreen has been a hotbed of rumor. While many original rumors said the screen would be larger than 4", new panel suppliers indicate that the iPhone 5 screen will actually be smaller than 4". Previous rumors were based on market expectations, not any actual supply chain leaks. The newest leaks say the screen could be as small as 3.5' which is the same size as the iPhone 4 screen.
iCloud inside
One of the most exciting bits about the iPhone 5 will be its operating system and iCloud. The free service will automatically sync your pictures, music, and other data instantly between your computer and your iPhone. Using iTunes Match, you will even be able to upgrade your existing music to one of Apple's lossless, higher-quality music files. iCloud is integrated with personal computers, cloud computing, and mobile information. When you take pictures or buy content on your phone, you will be able to access all of it on your computer through iCloud.
Faster, beefier processor
It isn't a surprise to hear that the iPhone 5 will have a better processor than the iPhone 4, since every major iteration of the phone has enjoyed this kind of upgrade under the hood. The A5 processor already struts itself inside the iPad 2. Including that same processor on the iPhone 5 would give the smartphone considerable power, catching it up to the capability of the iPad itself.
Integrated earthquake warning
The Japanese version of iPhone 5 will warns its users of impending earthquakes. A simple pop-up notification will appear whenever Japan's monitoring facilities detect an impending threat, providing iPhone 5 users much needed time to get to safety and prepare for disaster. There's been no word about whether such a warning will also exist in the U.S., but that might be a concern after the recent, rare earthquake in Virginia.
iPhone available on Sprint and T-Mobile
While Verizon and AT&T both boast their own iteration of the iPhone, Apple's smartphone hasn't migrated to the remaining two carriers yet. The Wall Street Journal expects the new iPhone 5 to include Sprint among its available carriers, while other reports indicate the iPhone may land on T-Mobile. At the same time, new information suggests that the new iPhone will be a "world phone," capable of supporting multiple types of mobile networks, which would make it an attractive option for frequent travellers.
A new friend: iPhone nano
At the same time we're hearing about a bigger, more powerful iPhone 5, rumors about a smaller, cheaper iPhone also keep coming up. The lighter, more budget-minded (and purely theoretical) iPhone has been dubbed the the iPhone nano among tech blogs. This potentially petite iPhone would be aimed at more casual smartphone owners who want to use the Apple product but aren't necessarily comfortable with the iPhone's traditionally high price point. With 8 GB of storage, the iPhone nano would rely on iCloud and the internet to access a lot of its content.
Of course, none of this speculation is official fact until you've heard the words uttered from Apple itself. That being said, these rumors have all been repeated by enough independent sources that a few of them are bound to pan out — we can only wait and see.

Officially confirmed: iPhone 5 comes on October 4th
Extracted from gsmarena
27 September, 2011
That's that then - the invitations have been sent and it has been officially confirmed that we are just a week away from seeing the next iPhone. The announcement will take place next Tuesday in a rather unusual place - the Apple campus in Cupertino.
Normally those things happen in other venues in San Francisco, but this time Apple will be inviting journalists to its home. There's an outside chance that this is done so they can make LTE demonstrations, without depending on the (still rather spotty) LTE coverage. Still, most rumors suggest that the iPhone 5 won't have an LTE radio so we wouldn't bet our houses on that.
However, the most exciting part about the event is the number of smartphones that will be announced. We received information from at least two reputable sources that more than one iPhone will be revealed, but if the invitation is to serve as a clue, it's only going to be one.
The first three icons describe the date, time and location of the event, so we assume that the number of missed calls on the last one indicates that we won't be getting both an iPhone 5 and an iPhone 4S.
Anyway, the event is now less than 7 days away so the end of this seemingly endless guessing game is near.
