newbie with questions .. lots of them :)

    Hey all,

I am Dutch, but currently living in Central America. I am planning on moving to, and investing in, Thailand when I am 'done' here. Approx 2-3 years.

I have 10s, if not 100s of questions, but first things first. I know about the "difficulties" for foreigners investing and working in Thailand. I would like to know more about obtaining a visa and work permit through investment. I have read that a visa can be secured with a 10 million Baht investment, but it is not clear to me if this also includes a work permit, or is this a seperate process? Of course i will be working with a lawyer, but I like to know a bit about the process myself as well.

Any tips/help welcome! Also, advise on good lawyers/lawfirms and banking is greatly appreciated, but preferably only from personal experiences.

    Thanks in advance!

don't quote me but im pretty sure investment and visa situation are totally separate things, you will need the correct visa for your intended stay, simple as that, so now check online for visa requirements, cheer and good luck,

You first have to obtain a non-immigrant visa and then provided you have invested 10,000,000 Baht and it remains invested you can get annual investment visa 12 month extensions. As for work permit it depends, there is no set answer.

Wow good one David i must admit new one to me and probably many others even though probably true, 10 million baht invested! i wounder how many people have a annual investment visa, I've never heard of that one from anyone i know who lives and owns property's here! I must be mingling in the wrong circles, even my Canadian friend who must spend 5k a day at 50 only needs his retirement visa.
But there must be some Russian millionaires who might have that visa!!!! oh on the other hand i doubt it, ha ha what a rib tickler.

It was re-introduced in 2008 after being cancelled in 2006 (originally introduced after the Asian stock market crisis in the 1990s when only 3,000,000 baht was needed.) Anyone who invested between 2006 and 2008 is not eligable for this visa.
