    Banking Job Opportunities in Bangkok

What are my chances of landing a job within the banking sector in Krungthep? I'm turning 30 this year and have 5 years of experience in global investment banks under my belt. Currently drawing > thb 250k a month. Any advice and inputs from industry insiders would be appreciated.

Your in dream world mate, you any idea about Thailand? or the average wage? 6000bht a month for a 12hour day! ive never seen a westerner ever working in a thai bank, as for 250k bht a month whats that 5000 pounds a month in the UK! why would you need to ever work abroad if your earning that sort of money in the western world? save up and move abroad and live on your savings?, bit of friendly advice your never going to find real friends boosting about earning that sort of money then wanting to earn the same in a 3rd world country! but be assured plenty of people here the high so's will help you spend it and quickly you'll need to go back to your banking job.

About the same as discovering that one of your parents are Thai because unless you are Thai then it is one of the forbidden occupations.

There are foreigners in the banking sector. However they usually hold high posts like CEO or VP or something. They make more than 250k THB a month. The last CEO of Krung Si Ayutthaya Bank is a S'porean.... FYI only.

6k a month for the lowly educated maybe. Fresh grads get at least 10k a month. U get more like 15k to 18k if u graduated from better University like Chula or Thamasart. Even factory operators are getting more than 6k and more if they work OT. Don't have to believe everything they tell u. Some just want ur sympathy.

    OFF
Bucky - FYI, our classroom assistants have college degrees (education degrees from Chiang Mai Rajaphat), they work 10 hours a day Mon-Fri and 8 hours on Sat, plus do overtime for 13 baht an hour supervising the school van runs. monthly salary, 6000 baht, usual salary for this kind of position. granted, it is definitely not the banking sector, but you can't really call them lowly educated, and you cannot possibly squeeze out more overtime from them, they wake up at 5 and get home at 8 every second week to do the school van. farang teachers supplement their salaries, they cover our playground duty shifts (3:30 until 5) for 100 baht an hour, a relief for us, a godsend for them, management willing to overlook at the moment.
kindergarten class teacher job openings in places like government school in Saraphi, monthly salary 4500 baht, 40 kids per class, no assistant, Mon to Fri 9 hours a day, without any help. I don't think I even want to imagine that one.
all my sympathy is with them because I have never seen people working so hard as they do. a school is not typically the kind of workplace where you can get away with doing nothing, if you try, kids get hurt within half a day. just a thought here.

I bet there's a way in if you've really got something to offer. But you'll have to be bringing something a bit special that can't easily be found in Thailand.

On salaries for new grads, a lot of mine (not Thamasat/Chula) seem to have started around 12,000 this year. More than a few are on around 15,000 plus another 500-2,000 baht depending on TOEIC scores. Hotel salaries are the lowest (9-10,000) but they pick up a fair bit more through service charges.
