Nyonya Kebaya in Malacca or Singapore?

Hi all,

Anyone with first-hand experiences about where to get quality Nyonya kebayas in Malacca but at a reasonable price? Heard from friends who had bought their ba-ba beaded shoes that the prices quoted can be rather tourisy-priced (at least for the shoes cos they only bought shoes) in Malacca. So thinking of checking with people here, possibly Malaysians or others who have bought from there before. Also, anyone happen to know how much it costs and where to have a studio photo in traditional Peranakan wear in Malacca? Thinking of going Malacca before CNY (since SG is just about 3hrs' bus/car/taxi/van ride away). The kebayas are for CNY and also make good wear for attending Chinese wedding dinners; a nice difference from those usual ladies' gowns/dresses .

Or in Singapore? Cos in SG, I had seen it sold in OGs and museums before, but all at S$100 to S$200 mimimum price range. Hoping to get cheaper and also not the seemingly generic kinds sold at OGs.

Most of the Straits born Chinese or "Peranakans" stay along Jonker Street which is adjacent to Jonker Walk.
Maybe you can hop in for a drink at Baba House Boutique Hotel cafe or Peranakan Restaurant along Jonker Street to find whereabout to take the Baba and Nyonya wedding photos.
Peranakan wedding gowns are quite delicate.
Photo studios around Melaka Raya town centre can also be a qood try.
As for the baju kebaya they were mostly hand sewn by tailors and you can find a few along Kee Ann Road(the Chinatown area).
Otherwise if you were to drive pass the Ayer Keroh Toll Booth and just after the Melaka Zoo near the traffic light junction to your right is the Fashion City @MITC (beside Mydin Hypermarket).
Most of the baju kebayas nowadays come from Indonesia.

I'm just wondering out loud; is there any very obvious difference between that worn by the "babas" versus those by the "pure Malays/Muslims"? Cos I will imagine that the babas' designs will incorporate both the Chinese and Malay cultural elements, while the latter will not include the Chinese ones.
