an easy way to get followers who are interested in your tweets is to post your Twitter name here, or in your signature as I do.

Don't worry about gaining and then losing followers quickly, people like that are mostly spam bots that follow hundreds of people a day hoping that they will "follow back", then they unfollow you, in order to artificially inflate their followers/follow ratio.
Those people are doing it wrong anyway, it's not about the numbers, it's about the quality of your followers.

I'd rather have 100 followers who are interested in what I have to say that 5000 who are just following me so I'll follow them back, never reading anything I post.
