iPod Touch (Not for sale, it's mine!!!)

After thinking about it for a year or so, I don't like to rush in to things, I finally decided to buy in to the 'iPod Revolution'.

My main concern was space, I don't listen much to music, my interest is Radio Comedy Shows from the BBC (Hancocks Half Hour, Navy Lark, The Goon Show, along with more modern offerings and even oloder ones) and whilst I have had this interest as long as I can remember this Christmas will mark 25 years since I started collecting recordings and my archive spans 1939 to this week. 160GB of storage on the iPod Classic *may* sound huge but in the world of radio recodings it doesn't amount to much.

Research revealed that with the iPod Touch my recordings could remain on my computer but when connected to wifi I could listen to my recordings wherever I may be provided my laptop is switched on - and I tend to run it 24/7. So the decision was made and on Saturday afternoon I ordered an 8GB iPod Touch and was surprised when it already arrived Monday morning.

With an app called iSub MS (costing 3GBP/US$5) and a small program that runs in the background on my laptop called Sub Music Server (costing a donation of at least €10 after the initial 30 days) I can now enjoy my entire radio collection wherever I have a wifi connection such as McDonalds, Wetherspoons, or Starbucks on most British main streets.

And that is just the start of it, however did I live without my iPod before I got it???

    David

David, don't forget to have at least one Back-Up (if not even more) of all your saved Recordings; if you don't have a Back-Up and your Computer crashes all will be lost.

Happened once to me as I was lazy to do a Regular Save of my Back-Up and many things were lost which I later couldn't even recall what is missing.

Good to find I am not the only one who loves that kind of humour.

Every thing of importance has been backed up now for more than 10 years. I have not made that mistake. Since that time I had 2 mega failures with my computer.

Awesome David. Very enjoyable reading your post, in an age where everyone is racing through life it's nice to slow down and share common interest with everyone. Here in the states I've been hooked on Pandora internet radio for many years it's free has long as you have an internet connection and you can select your own personal type music nonstop, I listen to it on cell phone via blue tooth stereo headset and on TV via sound system.
