Re: How to remember thai spelling
Sorry ใหญ่ดี i was thinking in Lao when i typed ใหย่ดี . That's how you spell ใหญ่ดี in ພາສາລາວ. With ຍ ຍຸງ instead of ญ ผู้หญิง . There's no ญ ผู้หญิง in ພາສາລາວ

Re: How to remember thai spelling
Lao is much more easier than Thai as they only use 1 Consonant for every Consonant Sound.
If you already know Thai I think it's very easy to learn Lao.My interesting blog about Thailand at Thailand Blog ---> click here

Oh, that's good to know. I thought it would be the other way, Lao is harder...
So, I think I would pursue studying Lao and Isan too after Thai.

Re: How to remember thai spelling
You're right djaidee , Lao is simpler . There are only 27 consonants and it must use สระ to spell the words . Without สระ it can't spell at all . To me what makes Lao language interesting is the similarity between the Lao language and my Malaysian Thai dialect สำเนียงเจ๊ะเห .

Re: How to remember thai spelling
did Lao have a relatively recent spelling reform to weed out all the stupid idiosyncrasies that Thai insists on retaining? good on them.
