Re: Saying Goodbye to Another SG's Historical Landmark - Rochor Centre

I think I recall reading somewhere some time ago that the businesses and residents at Rochor Centre are offered places to locate to, but one of the businesses complained that unlike Rochor Centre which is in the heart of the hustle and bustle, and merely 5mins walk from Bugis MRT Station, he is going to consider whether to take up the offer or not as the new location may not be able to pull in enough crowds to survive. Moreover, he cited the factor that many of his customers are regulars who live at/near Rochor Centre and he does not expect that they will be willing to make the trip to his new shop.

Re: Saying Goodbye to Another SG's Historical Landmark - Rochor Centre

I have to add that Rochor Centre is more unique than my poor photography can do justice to. When I went there a week or so ago to take these photos with my ex-schoolmate, O, whom I have not met in person for the past 14 years, O politely expressed interest in also wanting to see how Rochor Centre for the last time (none of us had ever really explored/visited Rochor Centre before). Merely 5mins into the visit, O became as excited (if not more) as I was about the traditional and 'old-school' shops, designs, architecture that are all but gone today, taking pains to point out to me the interesting spots, and even said that he would be coming back with his own camera the following week.

Hence, any disappointment with Rochor Centre is my fault and not because it is an undeserving old dame! ^^
