    เมาคุณนั้นแหละ

Me and a couple of friends attended a relative's wedding reception (งานแต่งงาน) in Thailand recently . Sitting at the table with us was a pretty girl . She reminded one of my friend not to get too drunk . My friend replied "ไม่ได้เมาเบียร์ แต่เมาคุณนั้นแหละ". I know what he meant was " i'm not drunk because of the beer but i'm drunk on you " . My question is , is the sentence เมาคุณนั้นแหละ is correct ? If not then what's the right words that he should've said ?

เมาคุณนั่นแหละ often mean smell one's stink. like, fart or body odour. Quite negative
Never heard anyone use เมาคุณ in other situations before. No idea.

Possible ways to use the word เมา to make some positive clauses are
    เมารัก (Flirty)
    ไม่ได้เมาเบียร์ แต่เมารักคุณนั่นแหละ
    เมาความสวย
    ที่ผมเดินเซ ไม่ได้เมาเบียร์นะ แต่เมาความสวยคุณนั่นแหละ

Hmm... เมาคุณนั่นแหละ sounds correct to me. Also, for me saying เมาคุณ does not lead to the negative concepts that normalblue mentioned. (Note that this is just for me. People may have different perception of the words based on their experiences.) The meaning whether it is positive or negative should be based on the context.

it sounds colloquially "correct" to me too..LOL

could it be because of the following?

northern thai uses [เมา] to express:
    1. to be besotted/obsessed with something/someone
    2. to be addicted to something/someone

    บ่อห่านก๋า เปิ้นเมาผ่อละครตึงวัน [ไม่เห็นเหรอ เขาติดดูละครถุกวัน]
