Teaching jobs for couple in Thailand
Hi all, im hoping someone will be able to help!
Last summer I spent 6 wks in Thailand with my boyfriend and absolutely loved it
The thing is, we wud both love to work in Thailand for a year startin around aug/sep 2012.
I'm a qualified english and french teacher with 3 years experience.
My boyfriend will complete his business degree in May 2012.
Do you think it would be possible to get teaching jobs in the same school/location even though he has no experience in teaching?
Any advice wud be greatly appreciated :/

Your boyfriend will need a TEFL cert to get a good post.
Try Ajarn.com for lots more help-including start of school year-difficult to get posts during the school year."There is no such thing as totally useless information"

Re: Teaching jobs for couple in Thailand
international schools start in September but usually they want experienced teachers.
Thai schools start in May.
you looking for international school jobs or the regular 30,000 baht Thai school jobs?
I think there is no hope of getting jobs from far away, you need to be here, apply, go to interviews, take your chances.
actually, it is sort of easy to find a job during the year if you are around and have a network of friends from all over town. if someone disappears and the school is desperate to fill in the gap during the year, they hire the first person that more or less looks like a teacher.

Re: Teaching jobs for couple in Thailand
Hahaha! That's chat/SMS style of writing. It's like a fad and is very common now. Having said that, like you I also expect more -in terms of correct grammar/spelling/punctuation, etc.- in posts from native English speakers or English teachers who know (or who are supposed to know?) the language. This is a favor to our non-English speaking readers, many of which are Thais, who want to pick up correct English. :-)I WOULD expect better grammar from an English teacher...?

Re: Teaching jobs for couple in Thailand
(I can actually capitalise the first word of sentences in real life. Apologies. I am not really setting a good example. Having said that - the last 2 KG1 teachers we had, I had to rewrite the reports they produced for the parents because they were unacceptably full of mistakes. They refused to correct their own work. And they were both fully qualified teachers from the US. I was more than shocked.)

Reminds me when JingJok visited the Chat Room and found us typing everything in lower case (small letters). He asked jokingly, "Are capital letters banned here?"

Re: #6
I'm sure you can see why everyone who cares about education in the U.S. is so very worried. If those 'teachers' won't (can't) correct their own work, of course they don't want to correct the work of their students, either.
