Re: Natn'l Napping Day~What's the Weirdest Place You've Ever Fallen Asleep?
This is a Good Question !! 3 things spring to mind for me...
1...On the toilet in Barcelona Airport (It was 1am and after several glasses of Sangria and lots of San Miguel)
2...Standing on a foot stool in front of the tv trying to stay awake watching the Superbowl. (It's on very late in the UK and i'd had a lot of Beer and a Chinese Takeaway) Anyway i woke up when i fell off the Stool and The 49ers had won again !!
3...This last one is my most impressive...
My second visit to Thailand, Best Friends Bar, Beach Road, Pattaya, 5 am in the morning still sitting at the Bar with an old mate watching the sun come up. Been drinking all night. By about 7 i was starting to doze off at the Bar so "Mini Mi" (She had 2 thumbs on one hand) got me a deckchair and placed it on the pavement in front of the Bar. I fell asleep in it. Apparently by 8.30 as i lay there snoring my head off the Road Workers turned up and proceeded to dig the Road up with their pneumatic drills. They were 5 feet away and i never heard them. My mate made a collection box out of an old bucket and put a sign on it "My name is Eric, i am homeless, please give generously". When i eventually woke up there was 1 satang in the bucket. My mate had gone back to the hotel, so i asked Mini Mi if he had checked bin, she replied he hadn't and i owed her the best part of 3000 baht. I paid up and left. Later that day we were discussing earlier events and i said to my mate "you owe me 1500", "what for" he replied, "The Bar Bill, you cleared off without paying", "no i didn't" he said "i paid in full" !!!

For a moment Wolfy I thought you were going to say you owed 3000 baht for chair rental!
I once thought 'how nice, there are chairs on the beach', so I sat down and pretty soon there was someone coming by to collect payment.

Re: Natn'l Napping Day~What's the Weirdest Place You've Ever Fallen Asleep?
Have to say I find deckchair rental very good here ... Our local beach at Bang Saen .... 2 chairs ... Sunshade ... Table and a bin .... 60 baht for the day. My last Med holiday was in Menorca 4 years ago ... 2 deckchairs ...8 Euros ... Sunshade 4 Euro .. No table or bin ... Not sure about the exchange rate ... But a rough guess I would imagine around 600 baht !!!!
Ok back to the thread ... Lol. The ones at the airport reminded me of my first visit here ... Had a very late flight home ... Gone midnight .. I was wedged in one of the middle seats ... I was feeling shattered .. So I remember saying to a guy sitting next to me to wake me up when the food came round ... And closed my eyes ... Now for some reason I can't explain .... I thought we had taken off ... I must of opened my eyes briefly and thought I'm on my way .... Fell back into a deep sleep ... When suddenly there was this roar of a noise !!! Really woke me up with a start ... My first reaction was we were crashing ... The plane was shaking .... Then I realized .... We were taking off !!! I am a real bad flyer at the best of times ... So that experience didn't help !!!Last edited by hoistman; 14-03-12 at 08:23 AM.

I have slept on train floor, loo, kitchens, with people whose faces I never saw, with a snake, in a field under the open sky...I think I have slept almost on every surface ...lolz

Re: Natn'l Napping Day~What's the Weirdest Place You've Ever Fallen Asleep?
I fell asleep during class once. my only redemption there was that I wasn't the teacher yet- but I was told I had been snoring really loud.
as a teacher, did once fall asleep on the floor under a table during recess. it was in Taiwan, one of those damn evening classes crazy parents force their kids to take. but the kids always had more energy than me.
I have also slept on beaches (multiple times), airports, buses, trains, hammocks, boats, the worst one ever must have been the ditch outside Zagreb on the ringroad while hitchhiking with a friend. Formula 1 always makes me fall asleep, the humming of those engines on tv. and who hasn't ever had a nap while sitting on a toilet? :-)

Re: Natn'l Napping Day~What's the Weirdest Place You've Ever Fallen Asleep?
There were times at AUA evening classes, when I wanted to sleep. I guess that's why we weren't allowed to sit down!
The last one? Hmmmm . . . not yet!
