Re: Krabi
Sorry, I realise my answer was not helpful. But each time we have returned to Ao Nang I have liked it less. Extremely touristy and aimed totally at Scandinavian and Swiss tourists. Very difficult to find any decent Thai food, except for a small number of street stalls run by Muslim locals that serve OK food. If you do stay in Ao Nang, I can recommend a visit to Wat Tam Seua........... good luck with the climb (over 1,200 steps - trust me, you feel each and every step)!
If you are visiting at a quiet time of year then James Bond Island (Koh Tapu - เกาะตะปู) is something that I like to visit, yes it's a predictable "touristy" choice, but the first time I saw it will stay with me for ever.
Koh Tapu

Ao Nang Beach has beautiful light ..........
Long tail taxis are reasonably priced to take you to Phra Nang beach around the headland

You can visit many beautiful islands as part of an organised tour.......

Hong Island is particularly beautiful and worth a visit

I love Krabi province, in my opinion some of the most beautiful scenery in the whole of Thailand, if not the world is in this area. The following 2 photos were both taken in Krabi. Of all my photographs, they are, by a very large margin the most popular that I have ever taken.

Re: Krabi
Don't worry guava ... Its only a base for our stay ... The hotel looks ok ... And we will hire a scooter and tour round ... I want to see "James Bond island." When we went to Koh Chang we did a organised tour ... Great value for money. Where we live in Chonburi ... Is very industrial ... So I'm sure Krabi will be a nice change ... I will do a trip report when I get back ... Once again guava ... Fantastic photos .. Not sure my trip report will be able to compete with those ... Lol.

Re: Krabi
Hi
Railay is world reknown for it's rock climbing. lots of climbing guides and shops.
Ao Nang is still much nicer than Phuket.
I haven't been there in 5 yrs it didn't seem that touristy when I was there.
I stayed at the Tipa Resort.
