Saying goodbye to Google search
I do a lot of web searching, and have primarily used Google for many years. About one month ago I tried a different search engine, and immediately became hooked. I am very happy with the results, features, and the fact that my privacy is respected. The new search engine goes by the bizarre name of DuckDuckGo, and can be accessed at https://duckduckgo.com or the easier to type shortcut ddg.gg and can be added to the regular search bar in many browsers.
One nice feature for bilingual users is the ability to set a "region" either for all searches or for individual searches. This places results that are determined to be from that region to show up higher in the search. For instance, with the region set to Thailand, the fifth result for "DuckDuckGo" itself was this page from a Thai tech site. This feature works quite well.

Give it a try, perhaps you will like it as much as I do.

Re: Saying goodbye to Google search
I have been faithful to Google Search for a long while. Now I am tempted to switch allegiance. :-)

Re: Saying goodbye to Google search
I like the idea of being more independent from google. I don't really use the computer that much, however I did get an Android phone for my birthday and I find it rather annoying that it (google) keeps insisting on insinuating itself, purportedly for my benefit, in any action I choose to do beyond a simple phone call.

Re: Saying goodbye to Google search
I'm not so perfectly happy with Google that I won't experiment with another search engine. It's not like we're married, after all! I'm glad to know about something new.
