Do You Believe Unconditional Positive Regard For Everyone Is Possible?

Carl Rogers, a very famous psychotherapist, considered unconditional positive regard as something to work towards, no matter who his client is and what he/she has ever done. It doesn't mean not recognizing as bad something bad that the client has committed before, but it roughly means still having the capacity to appreciate that client for being an unique individual with untapped potential despite it all.

I'm wondering how many of us out there really, truly believe that we can really have unconditional positive regard for each and every human in this world, including people like the late Hitler and Empress Tzu Chi? ^^

*PS - my poll doesn't manifest cos got an error message*
Sleep, little one, close your eyes, mother will sing you a lullaby... Sleep in a jewel cradle, sleep, mother will rock you.
If you don't sleep the midges will go for your eyes and pollen will fall on the cradle....Sleep, close your eyes...

Re: Do You Believe Unconditional Positive Regard For Everyone Is Possible?

YY, this question deserves serious reflection which I am not able to give it right now.

I definitely believe 'unconditional positive regard' is possible and has been practiced by people who are at a higher stage of development than most of us.

It's complicated. Quite often what we believe we should be doing and believing is just not that simple to practice, and as has been said, is a process.

I'll leave it at that, at least for now.

I am always makeing snide comments to myself as I notice people thru out the day.
