E-Visa for Myanmar..(Burma).
There is an online visa facility now for Myanmar. When i visited a while back this was not available, i had to download an application form and send it to the Embassy in London for approval, this was costly with recorded delivery both there and back plus i never feel at ease putting my passport in the post.Noticing this now i think it looks fairly straightforward and hopefully in the not to distant future when i hope to return i shall be able to get my visa more easily.

Useful to know. I distrust the post so much now in the UK I send anything of the slightest importance by "Recorded Signed For"-problem is-such would not cover the cost of a new passport if lost!

Re: E-Visa for Myanmar..(Burma).
I would triple check this, and the requirements, before flying in. maybe they want a printed return ticket or god knows. I can confirm that there IS a visa on arrival booth at Yangon airport - but this option had been available for package tour tourists.
please note that the embassy in BKK does process visas within the same day now - submit at 9, pick up at 3 the earliest. you MUST have a printout of your plane ticket for same-day pickup (not compulsory otherwise). they definitely do same-day if your flight is the next day, otherwise, they can be really rude. don't remember the extra charge, only that my same-day business visa was 2115 baht, they want exact change. tourists visas were cheaper. for the time being, tourist visas are 4 weeks and business visas 10 weeks. I will need to go back to BKK at the end of July.
thorn tree has lots of Burma-related threads and I'm sure the online visa is being discussed there if someone needs really up-to-date info here. the online visa stuff was already up and running once and then it was scrapped before the elections, so there may or may not be sudden changes depending on the political situation - my guess on the issue.

I do the recorded post delivery for my Thai visa from the UK when sending my passport, its about 9 pounds in total with the return postage,
send on Tuesday back by Thursday, that has a 500 pound insurance coverage and is traceable. So even if the unthinkable happened, no problems with this coverage.

There are actually two different services. The one that Ian writes about is SPECIAL DELIVERY, not RECORDED SIGNED FOR.
This month postal rates went up considerably and the 9 pounds Ian quotes will cost him 10 pounds 30 pence next time.
RECORDED SIGNED FOR costs 95 pence in addition to normal postage and compensation is limited to 46 pounds.

cheers for that david, and yes there is a difference and the most important thing is the coverage of 46 pounds on a near 100 pounds passport and your thai visa, mine 75 pounds this year wont cover there value in the case it gos missing. This month postal rates went up considerably and the 9 pounds Ian quotes will cost him 10 pounds 30 pence next time.
RECORDED SIGNED FOR costs 95 pence in addition to normal postage and compensation is limited to 46 pounds.

So the Special delivery is the one to go for, this still needs to be signed for at both end.
cheers
