How to get my bike from bangkok to khon kaen?

Hey, guys! My name is Mike and i'm new to this forum. I moved to Khon Kaen two weeks ago with my lovely wife & 3yr old son. well, my motorbike is still in Bangkok and i'm wondering if there's a possible way I can get it delivered to Khon Kaen? i'd assume it would be much cheaper than selling it, and buying a new one right?

Any advice would be great. Many thanks in advance. Cheers

If you were in Bangkok, you could load it on a train.

I actually thought about transporting it by train, but I didn't think trains here had this service. Do you know aprox how much it would cost?

What ever the cost-which will probably be reasonable-it has to be better than selling your bike at a figure lower than you would wish and risking buying a lemon or something you are not 100% loving in Khon Kaen-better the devil and all that!

    Take your bike

Bicycles and motorcycle carriage on Thai trains

Simply report to the luggage/baggage section in the train station. They will fill in a form and load your bike on the cargo car of the train just prior to departure.
There is a small charge for this service which you can pay directly to the station staff.
Though theft is unlikely to be a problem we recommend taking valuables as well as removable lights etc with you.

Or just load the Motorbike on a Pick-Up and drive it up yourself to Khon Kaen.

Don't know if your wife is Thai, but if so she must know somebody (family/friends) who has a Pick-Up.

Just combine it with a Trip to Bangkok pay the Pick-Up owner a little bit (he will love it to have the chance going on a Trip to Bangkok as well) and then drive your Bike back home.

w0w! These internet forums really do work wonders... Thanks everyone for the 'tips/advice', very much appreciated !!
Yes! I'll ask my wife to call the station and make an inquiry first thing tomorrow morning. My next question: How far is the train station from... lets say... Future Park, Rangsit? Because most likely i'll have to ride my bike from around this area. Well, their is no other alternative way because my wife doesn't know anyone who owns a pickup truck of any sort....
    Cheers. Mike

You could just send it by post as a friend of mine had one sent that way from chiang mai to pattaya, i'm sure it was only 3000bht and i picked it up for him at the post office!!

You just need to empty the tank!!! safety

The same option was suggested by Nu at TCB. Seems more convenient. I hope Mangasteen gets back to us to report how this is done.
