Hi there we are thinking of renting a house in Phuket and would like to know if anyone has done so, and if you are aware of any pitfalls or have any tips to renting.

Hi, I'd be really surprised if any members of this forum are presently living in Phuket but there's a wealth of information on other forums. The best Phuket forum I've seen is on the Thaivisa forum frequented by dozens of Phuket residents who could give you all the up-to-date information.
I've only rented in Bangkok and Samut Prakarn and my only tip is to always buy your own insurance policy because, as a tenant, you may be held responsible in the event of a fire. You can buy your own policy from literally any insurance company or broker very cheaply.
