Olympics
Hi
The games have finally started.
What events are you looking forward too?
I like the track and field events and viewing events I have never seen before.
What did you think of the opening ceremony?
I thought it was boring
It looked like a made for TV broadway play.
only those familar with english history and humour could get many of the
inuendos and insights in the production
the parade of atletes was the best part.

Re: Olympics
Hi
thanks David
I had to look up Toxophily
Now I have new word for the day
Isn't there an athlete competing this year in this sport with no arms?

Re: Olympics
Forget it! We were out in the first round this morning! Where is Robin Hood when you need him?

Re: Olympics
I'm easily confused, so please enlighten me. I spent a happy period of my childhood reading Howard Pyle's 'Robin Hood', and pretending the woods surrounding our home was Sherwood Forest. And now you tell me archery is toxophily? I don't recall ever before seeing or hearing that word, but then, neither did I watch the Olympics last night. Is that just another word we American's say incorrectly?
Oh! I see another person was thinking of Robin at the same time!

Re: Olympics
It certainly went on too long, it could have easily been cut by a third without losing continuity, and with all due respect, I do not see what a commemoration of a terrorist attack in London had to do with the opening of the Olympics.
Certainly accept your points on English history -and humour-though "Mr Bean" is universal now! Paul McCartney was an embarrassment, and there are far far better bands than the "Arctic Monkeys-must have been a "pay to play" arrangement!!
