Re: Olympics
Betti, public transportation where I live would be standing at the side of the road with your thumb out. Hitch-hiking, that is.
The nearest grocery story is 14 miles away.

Re: Olympics
I was really enjoying the tropical birds of Great Britain, then I saw 'skip ad'.

Seriously, it's quite informative, even if I did get lost after a while.
I had mistakenly thought The Republic of Ireland was part of The United Kingdom.
Now I know.

Re: Olympics
the Olympic youtube channel helps me a bit.... takes about half a day to download a video of 200m breaststroke. slightly less for the pommel horse :-) we have 4 golds so far, and a bunch of silvers and bronzes, and we are still rooting for the waterpolo teams, and our kayak and canoe sprinters. it's great to see that people still take pride, but also appalling to see how politicians play around with results. lately, it's been horrible times in Hungary, less spectacular compared to the Greeks and Spanish, but with the economy crumbling, hundreds of thousands have moved to western Europe, and there is an insane amount of mudslinging online, people calling each other traitors, cowards, losers, criminals, with trolls and paid government agents inciting people on popular blogs etc. it's kind of heartbreaking. anything that helps us feel a bit less divided is more than welcome.... :-(
