    Wat Mongkhon Khothawat

    Hi there,

I am searching for the temple of Luang Pu Pan, a famous guru who lived during the Rama V period. His temple name used to be Wat BangHia, and later renamed to Wat Klongdan.

My current search points me to a temple name Wat Mongkhon Khothawat.

Can anyone tell me if this Wat Mongkhon Khothawat is the same temple as Wat BangHia?

    Thanks alot in advance.

    Best regards,
    Sebastian.

    Re: Wat Mongkhon Khothawat

About "Luang Pu Pan" (I think correct Romanization should be "Luang Pu Parn") - also known as "Luang Phor Parn", I found some Words which are always combined with this Monk, for further Research I will give you the Thai Writing as well, as it will help more than Romanization/Transliteration

    Luang Pu Parn = หลวงปู่ปาน

    Luang Phor Parn = หลวงพ่อปาน

Wat Mongkhon Khothawat (Wat Bang Hia) = วัดมงคลโคธาวาส (วัดบางเหี้ย)
(these 2 are almost always named together, so I suppose that it might be the same Temple)

    Wat Klongdan = วัดคลองด่าน
(this Temple is also named together with the Monk)

All 3 Temple Names are combined with the Province "Samut Prakarn" which is near Bangkok, I am not sure if it's the same Temple with different Names or different Temples.

Here are some Links with the Biography of the Monk in Thai Script - maybe let them translated and you will get your Infos:

    Hi djaidee,

thanks for your reply. Deeply appreciated. Yes, you are right. I normally refer to him as Luang Phor Parn too.

His name is indeed commonly associated with Wat BangHia or Wat Klongdan. Which is why I need to find out if Wat Mongkol Khothawat is the same temple as Wat BangHia and Wat Klongdan as I would like to visit his temple.

I will check out the links you provided.

    Thanks alot. :-)
