Re: Help writing name in Thai
I hafta concur with other posters, without actually seeing how she spells her name you're unlikely to "hit it" the first time.
Thai given names are really tough to spell in Thai (as opposed to the single syllable "nicknames" which are usually super common words) and Thai surnames are even more squirrelly in their spelling.
Going from "karaoke Thai" (how Thais spell Thai words with English characters) back into 'real Thai' is gonna be a pretty tough "row to hoe". I've seen some really quirky spellings in English of what Thais think their name should be spelled like, (some bear very little resemblance to how it's actually pronounced in Thai).
If you chat with her, I'd have her write it out so you can see how she spells it. I think it's a better course of action than mis-spelling her name from the suggestions posters have offered out (not that they aren't good suggestions, but I mean who really knows
?) I would imagine mangling her name would provide less than the "impression" you're goin' for, although it would show you're at least makin' an effort.
I googled around Google.co.th but was unable to come up with a definitive way to actually spell what you're lookin' for. There were quite a few people who spelled the name "Yaowanee" in Thai as; เยาวณี and also a some who used เยาวณีย์ (in English there's no way to show that the name has a "silent y" on the end when it's written in Thai script, so they're written the same
). Again dunno if they're right or not, so I wouldn't personally use either of 'em.
Good Luck.

Re: Help writing name in Thai
There are many possibilities how to write your Names in Thai, I will have a try on it:
Rosalinda = โรซ่าลินดา
Vivi = วิวิ
In the end it all depends how your Names really are pronounced, Syllable-by-Syllable, so maybe you can tell us to be sure.
For example the possibility I gave for "Vivi" - it's right when the 2 "i" are pronounced short.My interesting blog about Thailand at Thailand Blog ---> click here
