Fileeep, were you previously using 7, or 8?
If it's not true, don't say it. If it's not yours, don't take it. If it's not right, don't do it.

    Re: Windows 10

Good question, Emu. Fileeep, I would like to know too.

The larger laptop I usually use has quit working, temporarily I hope. The trouble shooter tells me to use an ethernet cable and plug it directly into the router. I will buy one today, right after the root canal.

The tiny Acer I am using at the moment is a real pain to use. It surely cannot be hurt by installing Windows 10, and since I have received notification that I can upgrade for free I just might do so. However, I want the HP operational first, if possible.

    Chok dee to me!

    Re: Windows 10

How to check your ACER laptop specifications:

    http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/pc...image-3512328/

Minimum specifications for Windows 10 (in reality probably will work slowly, if previous Windows 'minimum specs' are anything to go by!)
    Minimum specs

    • Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster.
    • RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
    • Free hard disk space: 16 GB.
    • Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver.
    • A Microsoft account and Internet access.

I upgraded an Acer Notebook from Windows 7 to Windows 10. No real problems, seems to work okay. A Microsoft account isn't required(and some privacy advocates advise against) to upgrade, you can just transfer your local login and it works just fine. From what I read a Microsoft account may be required for some features, but not sure what they are right now.

    Re: Windows 10

I have 223 of 284 GB available and 64 bits on my Acer Aspire One. Not sure about the other stuff.

I bought an ethernet cable for the Hewlett Packard, plugged it in to the computer and router with no success.

I have a desktop I'm going to attach the ethernet cable to, along with another device a friend gave me to try, and see if works. I'll do that tomorrow maybe.

I had a root canal today so I'm not in the mood to buy a new computer.

    Re: Windows 10

    Hey Emu,

I have just bought a new laptop.... http://h20386.www2.hp.com/AustraliaS...c-spectre-x360, which came with windows 8.1 and I got the notification for 'free' windows 10. So I really had nothing to worry about with a new laptop. Will I be upgrading my old laptop (windows 7) and Thailand laptop (windows 8) to windows 10.....no....but I am very impressed with 10.

Susana, I have just finished the last stage of my root canal treatment.....the crown, I went for the titanium option. I hope you are feeling better this morning, I have a few more to do, I will get one done in Thailand to compare prices and treatment....see how it goes...there is no advantage in getting old...:-(

Thanks Fileeep. I feel fine except for spending so much money!

I ran a computer clean up on the Acer and will most likely install Windows 10, thanks to the encouragement and knowledge of you guys here on the forum.
