HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT lol
From the UK you will never feel heat like that again, until next year when you go back!
Th Beach is not a depiction of Thailand, you will see that quickly. The beaches look like the movie, but the most amazing thing is the culture. You will be hooked the day you step off the plane. Since you never have been there, I would STRONGLY suggest Air Conditioning. You will not have a very good time if you can't cool off when you rest. Buy some junk to take home with you it is cheap and you can buy alot of gifts for everyone in your family on about 10-15 hours of your UK wages.Since light travels faster than sound, people appear bright until you hear them speak....and in every forum you will find at least one.
When you critisize someone, walk a mile in his shoes first; then, if he gets mad, he'll be a mile away and barefoot.

Are you going alone? Are you meeting someone there?
As Stacker said 'The Beach' really does not show an acurate picture of Thailand. The 'Beach' was more about the problems caused by backpackers world wide. Yes you will be in awe of the beauty of your surroundings. But the real beauty here lies in the culture. I strongly suggest you try to make some Thai friends while you are there. This will make your experiences 100% better.
As far as the temp. December is a good time to go. The temp. is alot cooler in the later part of the year. It is still hot, but I was there at the end of May and I thought I was going to die from the heat. It seemed even the cool breaze was still hot.
Be prepared to eat alot. Everywhere you go people will be offering you food and you will not be able to say no.
Actually I will be there a month before you. I'll be arriving in BKK on November 5th and leaving on the 19th. I wish I could stay longer. Two weeks is only enough time to forget about your homeland and when it's up you have to go back and get used to everything all over again.
