Dual Pricing or Outright Thievery !?!

    http://www.thaitribune.org/contents/...and=1469067324

Chingcha Chalee Cafe @ Siam Paragon might be a restaurant to avoid, unless you are Thai, or at least read Thai.

Two guys dined there, one Thai, one Farang. When the time came for the check, the Thai was busy with his phone and the Farang called for the bill. They handed him the check and he handed back his credit card.

After he had paid, his Thai friend looked at the total and said there was no way it would cost that much. Then, looking at the bill, he notice items that weren't ordered. After taking it up with the manager, they were handed a different bill, the one for their actual meal. The excuse was that they were given someone else's bill.

However, if you look closely, you will notice that both checks show the same receipt number, the same time and the same table. Comparing the check timestamp, against the credit card timestamp, we can see were printed up BEFORE the two ate their meal!

Appears this establishment will make up different receipts - one for Thais and one for people who don't read Thai.

My wife always scrutinizes restaurant tabs closely, as does the rest of her family. In the case of not being able to decipher Thai, just make note of what you order and the prices.

    In any case,
Chingcha Chalee Cafe @ Siam Paragon might be worth a pass!

    Hi

Even If you don't read Thai . You should always count the items on our ticket before paying. and you should have an idea how much it should cost before you order..

Like I said, we always know what we order and what it should cost. But, far too many simply order and pay up when the check comes.

My main reason for the post is to point out just how dishonest some places can be. They already had two bills printed up at the time of the order.

This wasn't some off-the-wall eatery. It was a tenant of a Siam Paragon. Hopefully, this incident will get them shut down. The Mall Group doesn't need this kind of place.

Even if you know what it should cost, people who are not fluent enough in Thai to argue the point are unable to defend themselves.

Also, foreigners who are with guests and are hosting the meal may be too shy to scrutinize the bill. (Unlike perhaps a legendary member of this forum who likes to split the bill when on a date, and therefore would like to keep track of who ordered what and how much. )

Why, don't you follow the commandment "Men, thou shalt not pay for a woman's meal"?

Mike, I forgot to mention~ that RELIGION that advocates the above edict has redefined the term "Lady Killer"-which usually refers to ''a man who is irresistible to women". Now it literally means "a guy who starves his date to death".
