If the banks would stop requiring the deposits to secure many accounts, I'm sure they could rope in the entire nation!

    Hi

Not just Thailand some reports put 80% of America in debt many with large unsecured credit card debt or huge student loans.

And, guess what? Visa is working hard to promote retailers into refusing cash. If successful, one will need to be in the system to survive!

As long as they don't do away with debit cards I'm ok.

I personally have always preferred cash for buying or selling. The banks charge retailers a percentage for each transaction.

I wonder if larger retailers who have lots of employees with their hands in the till might prefer cards because: 1. The employees can't steal as much 2. The employees can't be trusted to count and close out correctly at the end of the day.

    Hi

I have a visa debit card for my US bank If I want to access my own money here in Thailand I have to pay visa 3%. If I use my US credit card to buy a large purchase in Thailand I have to pay the 3%.
Thailand businesses do not pay the 3% like the US business have to do. which is included in everything you buy in US with credit card. many European countries do not have to pay the visa fees. they have different banking rules and regs than USA Americans are getting screwed by the banking lobby
